Michigan GOP responds to State of the State tackle

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)— The Michigan GOP has responded to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State tackle in a video shared by the Michigan Affiliation of Broadcasters.

Michigan State Rep. Bryan Posthumus says the GOP will deal with, “bringing down the cost of government, keeping money in your pocket, keeping the community safe and educating our kids.”

The federal government in Michigan is at present divided with the Democrats holding the Senate and Governor’s Workplace, whereas the Republicans maintain the Home of Representatives. “We are going to have to work together if we want to get anything done,” says Posthumus.

Posthumus discusses the decline of Michigan’s inhabitants and financial system. “Because of our population decline relative to the rest of the country, we have less power and less influence in Congress,” mentioned Posthumus.

In keeping with the USA Census Bureau, Michigan was the one state to see a decline in inhabitants from 2000-2010, dropping 0.6 % of its residents. Michigan’s inhabitants grew 2.0% from 2010-2020.

Posthumus says the state is, “stagnant once again.” Including,” Michigan used to be one of the wealthiest states in the country. Today, we are near the bottom.”

Statista experiences that Michigan ranks 14 in GDP with $541.55 billion in 2023. World Inhabitants Overview experiences that Michigan’s Median family revenue in 2024 was $63,498, rating 35 out of the 50 states and the District of Colombia.

“I’m not going to blame one party or the other because we all know both Republicans and Democrats have been in control at various times. There are complex reasons for Michigan’s decline. If we want the situation to be any different 10-20 years from now. We need to take drastic action to fix it,” says Posthumus.

This video was recorded and revealed earlier than the State of the State tackle.
