It is a crucial time for the MoD – so who’s Defence Secretary John Healey?

After simply eight months in his function, Defence Secretary John Healey is coping with probably the most difficult in-trays within the cupboard.

He’s assembly US counterpart Pete Hegseth in Washington on Thursday, as he works to bridge the hole on the best way to attain a Ukraine peace deal.

On as we speak’s podcast, Niall Paterson talks to ex-armed forces minister James Heappey who labored with Mr Healey when he was in opposition, and to Malcolm Chalmers who focuses on UK defence and safety on the thinktank RUSI concerning the challenges the defence secretary faces.
