Not less than 22 individuals have been killed after a suicide bomber opened fireplace at a church in Syria – after which detonated an explosive vest.
That is the primary such incident since Bashar al Assad was toppled in December, and officers declare the attacker was a member of Islamic State.
It occurred at a Greek Orthodox church in Damascus, with estimates suggesting that 350 worshippers have been praying there on the time.

Witnesses mentioned the perpetrator had his face lined when he started taking pictures – and blew himself up as crowds tried to take away him from the constructing.
A safety supply advised Reuters that two males have been concerned within the assault, with a priest saying he noticed a second gunman on the entrance.
Officers say 63 individuals have been injured, and youngsters have been among the many casualties.
Syria’s data minister, Hamza Mostafa, condemned the terrorist assault – writing on X: “This cowardly act goes towards the civic values that convey us collectively.
“We will not back down from our commitment to equal citizenship… and we also affirm the state’s pledge to exert all its efforts to combat criminal organisations.”

Footage filmed by Syria’s civil defence, the White Helmets, confirmed scenes of destruction contained in the church – together with bloodied flooring and shattered pews.
The Greek international ministry says it “unequivocally condemns the abhorrent terrorist suicide bombing”, and referred to as on Syria “to guarantee the safety” of Christians with new measures.
