A clothes advert filmed on the marriage day of two actuality TV stars has been banned for glamorising smoking, the promoting watchdog has mentioned.
The video was posted on Instagram by The Solely Manner is Essex alum Ercan Ramadan on 3 October final yr and shared by his spouse Vicky Pattison, a former star of Geordie Shore.
It featured Ramadan and 7 groomsmen with cigars.
The Promoting Requirements Authority (ASA) mentioned the advert was banned for presenting smoking as “part of a glamourous and aspirational lifestyle”.
The watchdog upheld two complaints in regards to the video, with one saying it glamorised smoking and one other about it not being clearly marked as an “ad”.
It mentioned: “While we acknowledged the ad was for menswear products, we considered that the ad’s principal focus was on smoking and that it was depicted as an enjoyable group activity.
“We thought-about that using sluggish movement, the formal setting and the jazz-style music added to the stylised and aspirational tone.”
The watchdog added: “The advertisements should not seem once more within the kind complained of.”
