Coast Guard rescues canine, Cujo, from ice close to Soo Locks

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a canine caught in icy waters close to the Soo Locks Wednesday.

Cujo was introduced safely to shore and was later returned to his proprietor.

“Once on scene, the dog readily accepted the help and cuddled right up to our ice rescue team member during the transit back to the station,” Operations Unit Controller Cory Cichoracki mentioned within the launch.

Cichoracki added that the Michigan State Police and Military Corps of Engineers helped convey Cujo house.
