EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – It is commencement season, and with Michigan State College’s ceremonies happening, downtown East Lansing is busy. On the Sparty Statue on campus Friday, dozens of graduates had been taking footage. 6 Information was there to seek out out their future plans and if that includes staying in Michigan.

Then, there are graduates trying to journey. Matt Manger is from New York, however after commencement, he’s heading to Chicago.

“I’m just preparing to jump into the real world, start working for the next 40 years,” Manger continued, “I’m excited to move on though, move on to the next chapter.”

Lou Glazer, President of Michigan Future Inc., stated there are issues the state can do to higher retain graduates. A standard thread between these leaving Michigan, Glazer stated, is that many graduates need to go to a transit-rich, walkable huge metropolis, and that Michigan doesn’t prioritize that.

“If we don’t have the kind of neighborhoods that recent college graduates are looking for to compete with Chicago, we’re going to continue to be a poor state,” stated Glazer.
