LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The household of the Spring Arbor couple who’re behind bars in a Mexican jail after being accused of breaching a timeshare contract, have launched a press release thanking U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett for touring to Mexico Tuesday to assist get them house.

Paul and Christy Akeo had been arrested on March 4 at an airport in Cancun and have been held with out bond. Lindsey Hull, Chrisy’s daughter, and Paul’s stepdaughter informed WLNS that the couple was being held as a result of that they had challenged prices made on their American Specific bank card by The Palace Firm, homeowners of Palace Resorts.

We want to prolong our deepest gratitude to Consultant Tom Barrett for his brave motion in touring to Cancun, Mexico to help in securing the discharge of our mother and father from captivity. His dedication, management, and willingness to personally intervene in such a important scenario means extra to our household than phrases can categorical. 

By 4 straight weeks of worry and uncertainty, Consultant Barrett’s dedication to bringing our mother and father house safely offered us with hope and reassurance. He was the primary native consultant to easily make a telephone name to our household and hearken to our horrific scenario and supply his help. His efforts exemplify his dedication to not solely our household, however our group as an entire, and we’re endlessly grateful for his help and willpower.

Thanks, Consultant Barrett, for standing by us in our time of want. We’re all hoping The Chapur Household and The Palace Firm will make the proper choice in releasing our mother and father and placing an finish to the unjust torture they’ve compelled our mother and father to endure.

Lawyer for Michigan couple held in Mexican jail says resort firm is at fault

Native Mexican retailers reported that the Akeos have been charged with defrauding a Cancun resort chain out of greater than $100,000, alleging they signed a contract in Nov. 2021 to buy a membership with the resort, giving a bank card for the resort to cost the month-to-month funds to.
