Ian Hislop has joked there was one “high point” of being concerned in an incident initially regarded as a taking pictures earlier this week.
The Non-public Eye editor was travelling in a black taxi close to the journal’s workplace in Soho, central London, on Tuesday when the rear window of the car smashed.
It was initially believed the cab had been hit by a bullet – however the Metropolitan Police later mentioned there was “no evidence of a firearms discharge at this time”.
In a scene which performed earlier than the episode’s opening credit, Hislop might be seen telling the present’s host, panellists and studio viewers: “I all the time say at this level I am glad to be right here, however this week I actually imply it.
“There was one high point when a policeman investigating me said ‘this may be a silly question but is there anyone who might have a grudge against you?’.”
Because the viewers laughed, Hislop’s rival group captain Paul Merton quipped: “I have an alibi.”
The episode was filmed on Thursday night.
