The announcement from Iceland’s RUV follows withdrawals by broadcasters from the Netherlands, Spain, Eire and Slovenia.

In a press release, RUV mentioned participation of Israeli nationwide broadcaster KAN had “created disunity” amongst members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organises Eurovision, and most of the people.

Israel’s place within the contest was confirmed on the EBU’s basic meeting final week.

The previous two occasions have attracted protests and fan boycotts over Israel’s inclusion amid the nation’s army motion in Gaza. This 12 months, there have been additionally allegations that voting had been manipulated in favour of their contestant.
