LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — State lawmakers have launched a invoice to dedicate a phase of Hillsdale County freeway to a deputy who was shot and killed throughout a visitors cease final yr.

William Butler Jr., a Hillsdale County sheriff’s deputy and Michigan Military Nationwide Guard veteran, was shot and killed in June 2024 when he was helping with a visitors cease. In line with regulation enforcement, when Butler tried to arrest the person he pulled over, the person pulled out a gun and shot him. Butler was taken to the hospital by one other deputy, the place he died of his accidents.
