Iran says its carried out ‘mighty and profitable’ assault on US base – as Qatar air defences ‘thwart assault’

Iran says its carried out ‘mighty and profitable’ assault on US base – as Qatar air defences ‘thwart assault’

Iran claims it has carried out a “mighty and successful response” to “America’s aggression” after launching missile assaults on a US navy base in Qatar and Iraq.

The assault comes after the US dropped “bunker buster bombs” on three key nuclear websites in Iran over the weekend.

Iran’s response this night is the newest escalation in tensions within the risky area.

Qatar has stated there are not any casualties on the al Udeid base following the strikes and that its “air defences thwarted the attack and successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles”.

Individuals in Qatar’s capital, Doha, had stopped and gazed up on the sky as missiles flew and interceptors fired.

Iran had introduced on state tv that it had attacked American forces stationed on the al Udeid airbase.

A US authorities official has stated the White Home and US defence division is “closely monitoring” the potential threats to its base.

In the meantime, US President Donald Trump is within the Scenario Room within the White Home together with his crew following the Iranian strikes.

The assaults got here shortly after Qatar closed its airspace as a precaution amid threats from Iran.

Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq additionally shut their airspaces after the assault, whereas Oman Air has suspended some flights within the area.

The Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways stated it’s rerouting a number of flights at this time and tomorrow because of restrictions in components of the Center East.
