JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — Jackson metropolis leaders are set to listen to a brand new plan Tuesday at Metropolis Corridor, one aimed toward shaping a extra sustainable and more healthy future for the group.
“As we start making long term investments, we consider the environmental impact of the investments, not just doing things the way that they’ve always been done,” stated Chair of the Metropolis of Jackson Environmental Fee Kelli Kazmier.
Former mayor Derek Dobies created the environmental fee in 2018. He says it was made with an eye fixed towards a extra sustainable and higher high quality of life in Jackson.
“They were tasked with a variety of different functions, but namely that and working to produce environmental action plans and come up with some of the ideas to help ensure that we have a cleaner and greener city,” Dobies stated.
Kazmier is presenting the 2025 motion plan, which she says will spotlight methods to handle carbon neutrality, renewable vitality, and stable waste administration.
“Because the sooner we start making the small incremental changes that are necessary, the easier the transition to our future will be and that’s the goal of the commission is really to make this community a thriving, exciting and a healthy place,” Kazmier stated.
Dobies factors to the fee challenge growing tree cover int he final 5 years as main progress ecologically.
“That has a direct effect on the quality of life here in the city. More trees, more tree canopy helps lessen the temperature, improves the air quality and frankly, can have a calming effect with traffic,” Dobies stated.
