Lansing council might transfer on tiny properties for the homeless

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Lansing officers might transfer on a plan at tonight’s metropolis council assembly to amass dozens of tiny properties to assist fight homelessness. 

The clock is ticking as housing advocates sound the alarm, urging metropolis officers to resolve on the subsequent steps for folks residing at a homeless encampment at Dietrich Park.

Khadja Erickson, Govt Director of the Mid-Michigan Tenant Useful resource Middle, says she has been on the entrance strains since day one, serving to residents residing within the camp. 

“We desperately need to be investing right now in different types of shelter options,” said Erickson. “Different types of transitional housing.”

Joanne Galloway, a housing advocate, says she’s excited in regards to the metropolis council’s proposal to buy “mod pod” multi-use buildings, however has her issues as to what the plan holds.
