Lightning strike kills 14 in refugee camp in Uganda

Fourteen folks have been killed in a lightning strike on a makeshift church at a refugee camp in northern Uganda, police have mentioned.

An extra 34 folks have been injured, police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke mentioned.

The victims haven’t but been recognized.

The incident occurred on the Palabek refugee settlement camp within the distant district of Lamwo on Saturday.

Residents had been attending a prayer service in a metallic construction when it was struck.

There have been no reviews of a hearth breaking out following the strike, Mr Rusoke added.

The refugee camp, dwelling to greater than 50,000 folks, primarily homes refugees from South Sudan.

Lethal lightning is usually reported within the East African nation in the course of the moist seasons.
