Why did activists goal an RAF base?

Residence Secretary Yvette Cooper will replace MPs on the transfer to proscribe the organisation, which might make it a legal offence to belong to or help it.

Sir Mark stated that – till this occurs – the pressure has “no power in law” to forestall the protest from going down, however lawbreakers might be “dealt with robustly”.

He added: “This is an organised extremist criminal group, whose proscription as terrorists is being actively considered.

“Members are alleged to have induced hundreds of thousands of kilos of legal injury, assaulted a police officer with a sledgehammer and final week claimed duty for breaking into an airbase and damaging plane.

“Multiple members of the group are awaiting trial accused of serious offences.”

He added that – whereas the proper to protest is important – “actions in support of such a group go beyond what most would see as a legitimate protest”.

Plans to ban activist group criticised

Lord Falconer stated: “I am not aware of what Palestine Action has done beyond the painting of things on the planes in Brize Norton, they may have done other things I didn’t know.

“However typically, that kind of demonstration would not justify proscription so there have to be one thing else that I do not learn about.”
