Michigan Capitol lowers flags to honor late state Sen. Bruce Patterson

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on the Michigan Capitol to honor former state Sen. Bruce Patterson, who died Monday. He was 78.

Patterson was a Republican who served Michigan’s seventh district, protecting components of Wayne County, from 2003 till 2011. Previous to serving within the Michigan Senate, he served within the Michigan Home from 1999 till 2002. Patterson additionally served in positions as an administrator at Japanese Michigan College and commissioner at Wayne County. He obtained his legislation diploma from Wayne State College.

“Bruce was a good friend, tough foe, and great fun. Whether he was wearing the iconic red Stormy Kromer hat while speaking at my inauguration or debating legislation on the Senate floor, Bruce always put Michigan first,” mentioned Whitmer. “He by no means wavered in his dedication to creating Wayne County and our whole state the perfect place to stay, increase a household, or construct a enterprise.
