Michigan lawmakers identify sextortion payments after Jordan DeMay

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan lawmakers introduced forth a package deal of payments they’ve dubbed “Jordan D’s Law”.

The invoice is known as after Jordan DeMay, a 17-year-old from Marquette who took his personal life in 2022 after falling sufferer to a sextortion scandal.

The invoice would handle “sextortion”, which occurs when somebody makes use of sexual photographs as blackmail, typically demanding cash or extra personal photos.

Minors like Jordan are sometimes the victims of those crimes, which is why state reps John Fitzgerald, Jenn Hill and Kara Hope are pushing for Home Payments 5887, 5888 and 5889, or “Jordan D’s Law”, which might punish these sexually extorting others, and supply sentencing pointers.
