Mid-Michigan receives grants for shared areas improvement

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has introduced that $6.5 million in funding can be awarded to communities and transit businesses throughout the state as part of the Shared Streets and Areas Grant (SSSG) program.

This system will help the event and enchancment of plazas, sidewalks, streets, parking areas, and different publicly used areas.

The Metropolis of Jackson, Brighton, and the Capital Space Transportation Authority are all slated to obtain funding for varied initiatives throughout the area.

The grant will award between $35,000 to $200,000 to 27 communities and eight transit businesses all through Michigan.

“Today’s infrastructure investments will help dozens of communities across Michigan become more walkable, bike-friendly, and accessible to transit,” stated Gov. Whitmer
