“As a company, we take the safety of our users very seriously and we are continuing to add new safety features,” it stated, linking to a weblog publish that stated the corporate had added “new guardrails for users under the age of 18”.

Ms Garcia and the teams representing her, Social Media Victims Regulation Middle and the Tech Justice Regulation Challenge, allege that Sewell, “like many children his age, did not have the maturity or mental capacity to understand that the C.AI bot, in the form of Daenerys, was not real”.

“C.AI told him that she loved him, and engaged in sexual acts with him over weeks, possibly months,” they are saying within the lawsuit.

“She seemed to remember him and said that she wanted to be with him. She even expressed that she wanted him to be with her, no matter the cost.”

In addition they named Google and its guardian firm Alphabet within the submitting. Character.AI’s founders labored at Google earlier than launching their product and have been re-hired by the corporate in August as a part of a deal granting it a non-exclusive licence to Character.AI’s expertise.
