MSP investigates home assault, demise in Barry County

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State Police are investigating the demise of a Barry County man who was allegedly assaulted by his nephew of their house.

MSP troopers from the Wayland Submit responded to 5450 Lacey Highway in Assyria Township on Thursday at round 2:45 p.m. after receiving a 911 name from a relative who witnessed a home assault. In response to MSP, they decided John Branham, a 26-year-old man from Dowling, was assaulting his 43-year-old uncle within the home the place they each lived.

Upon arrival, troopers found the sufferer was not respiratory. All efforts to render first help had been unsuccessful, and the sufferer was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

Branham was arrested and brought to the Barry County Jail on a cost of open homicide. He was arraigned Friday and given a $1,000,000 bond.

Preliminary post-mortem findings point out explanation for demise could also be murder by strangulation, however the incident is at the moment below additional investigation.
