LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Neighborhood members got here collectively Saturday afternoon, sporting orange, as a part of a nationwide effort to fight gun violence.

6News spoke to many volunteers, like Symphany Horn, who wished their voices to be heard. 

“Being an activist advocating for the top of gun violence is a large step into altering the best way Lansing is and to the correct course,” mentioned Horn. 

Horn is aware of the influence gun violence has on younger adults all too properly. 

“My brother’s classmate. He was a sufferer of gun violence. He died, I believe, two years in the past,” mentioned Horn. 

She’s honoring these impacted by the colour orange to boost consciousness about gun violence prevention. 

“My classmate, her childhood good friend, he died as properly,” mentioned Horn. 

That’s why she’s made it her mission to plant a seed to develop a brand new era of younger adults who will say no to weapons.

“We’re digging in the dirt together. We have contributions from Home Depot of these buckets. We’ve wrapped them with placards,” said See. “We are filling them with orange flowers. We’re distributing them across the city to raise consciousness to remind people that gun violence is happening everywhere.”
