Paul Di’Anno: Iron Maiden ‘deeply saddened’ after demise of former singer

Members of heavy steel band Iron Maiden have stated they’re “deeply saddened” following the demise of former bandmate Paul Di’Anno.

Di’Anno sang with the British band between 1978 and 1981 and featured on their self-titled debut album and its follow-up Killers – singing songs similar to Working Free, Sanctuary and Bear in mind Tomorrow.

His demise was introduced by file label Conquest Data on behalf of his household on Monday.

He died at his house in Salisbury on the age of 66, it added.

A press release posted on the Iron Maiden official X account stated: “We’re all deeply saddened to study in regards to the passing of Paul Di’Anno earlier in the present day.

“Paul’s contribution to Iron Maiden was immense and helped set us on the path we have been travelling as a band for almost five decades.

“His pioneering presence as a frontman and vocalist, each on stage and on our first two albums, will probably be very fondly remembered not simply by us, however by followers all over the world.

“On behalf of the band, Rod and Andy, and the whole Iron Maiden team, we extend our deepest sympathies to Paul’s family and close friends. Rest in peace Paul.”

Di’Anno was recognized for his aggressive voice, which gave the band a extra punk-style sound.

He was pressured to overlook most of his debut Iron Maiden present after being arrested for carrying a knife.

In 1981 he was dismissed from the band resulting from his erratic behaviour and drug utilization. He was changed by Bruce Dickinson, the group’s present singer, however continued to make visitor appearances.

After leaving the band, Di’Anno went on to file numerous solo albums and carried out as a part of different bands together with Battlezone and Killers.
