“We are here to get our final form approved, because our summary was approved at the last meeting, and it seems like there was a procedural there with posting,” Sweeney mentioned. “Our petition was rescinded, and so we’re getting bumped to the next meeting to have final approval of both form and summary.”

These in favor of Put money into MI Children are ready to “hit the ground running” to gather signatures if the board approves the language of the poll proposal.

“We have people that families, parents, students, educators across the state that have been ready and waiting,” Sweeney said. “We’re all Michiganders. So, I think our folks are ready to put on some coats, get out there at every single, like, holiday celebration, Thanksgiving. Whatever happens over the new year, you’ll see Invest in MI Kids petitioners at every party.”

Sweeney says that this proposal would considerably assist Michigan school rooms.

“The Michiganders have the ability to vote on increasing our K-12 school funding pop by $1.7 billion, which could mean amazing things for Michigan kids,” mentioned Sweeney. “It could mean smaller class size, improved career and technical education, retaining and attracting educators, which, as we know, is a problem.”

She additionally mentioned that this cash might result in not solely extra money, but additionally higher outcomes for teenagers.

“Across the state, and we know all the data says that more money for schools means better outcomes for kids. We’ve seen the charts, we’ve seen the graphs, and since 2000, we’ve seen money decrease. We had a small bump recently, but we’re at the 2009 levels of funding.”
