WAYNE, Mich. (AP) — A gunman opened fireplace throughout a service at a suburban Detroit church on Sunday, wounding one individual earlier than he was shot and killed by a safety guard, police mentioned.

The taking pictures occurred round 11 a.m. at CrossPointe Group Church in Wayne, a metropolis of about 17,000 folks some 25 miles east of Detroit, the church’s pastor, Bobby Kelly Jr., advised the Detroit Information.

Police mentioned one individual was shot within the leg.

Kelly mentioned a church member ran the suspect over together with his truck, giving the safety guard time to shoot him. Police described the suspect as a 31-year-old white male.

The one that was shot within the leg was the safety guard, the pastor advised the newspaper. Nobody else was harm, he mentioned.

About 150 folks have been attending the service, Kelly mentioned.

Wayne Police Deputy Chief Finley Carter III mentioned it was too early to know why the church was attacked. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino tweeted that bureau “leadership and support teams” have been on the scene and serving to with the investigation.

Messages left by The Related Press on Sunday on voicemail and a Fb web page for the church weren’t instantly returned.
