Ukraine’s hopes of securing Tomahawk missiles have been dashed by the US over fears it might spark an “escalation”, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has advised.
US President Donald Trump met with the Ukrainian president on the White Home earlier on Friday for the third time this 12 months.
Mr Zelenskyy’s precedence would have doubtless been securing Tomahawk missiles after three years of struggle with Russia, which was left anxious by the prospect.
The weapons have a considerably longer vary than some other missiles in Ukraine’s armoury.
Whereas Mr Trump didn’t rule out offering the Tomahawk missiles that Mr Zelenskyy seeks, Mr Trump appeared cool to the prospect as he seemed forward to a gathering with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary within the coming weeks.

However he added: “We don’t speak about it because… United States doesn’t want this escalation.

Later in a put up on X, Mr Zelenskyy stated he was relying on President Trump to “bring this war closer to an end”.
“We discussed all key issues – our positions on the battlefield, long-range capabilities and air defence, and, of course, diplomatic prospects,” he stated.
“Russia must end the aggression it started and continues to deliberately prolong. We count on the United States’ pressure.”
In a roundtable with journalists following the assembly, Mr Trump confirmed that hitting targets deep inside Russian territory could be an “escalation”.
However he did recommend he could be involved in a take care of Mr Zelenskyy that would offer “thousands of drones” to the US in return for the Tomahawks.
Afterward Friday, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed he had referred to as Mr Zelenskyy to reiterate his assist.
