Grand Ledge and DeWitt play to 1-1 draw, Comets win CAAC Blue title

DeWITT, Mich. (WLNS) – Grand Ledge and DeWitt settled for a 1-1 draw on the ultimate night time of league play Tuesday, however the outcome was sufficient for the Comets to earn the outright CAAC Blue title.

“Every time we play we hear from the other coaches how hard we work and how well we work together,” stated Grand Ledge head coach David Blanzy. “So that’s been our motto from day one is just really work hard, outwork the opponent every single day, and the girls have been doing that this year.”

The Comets are 9-2-2 total and maintain the No. 1 seed within the CAAC Gold Cup subsequent week.

“My freshman year we were talking about maybe trying to be a part of the Bronze Cup and now we’re talking about winning the Gold Cup,” stated Anderson. “Just that transition from being a little less confident to now the league championship game is really cool. So, I’m very appreciative for this team and I think it’s a really cool opportunity to be a part of it.”

The CAAC Gold Cup begins on Tuesday. Grand Ledge will play Mason and DeWitt will play East Lansing within the semifinals.
