LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, and Michigan native, Bridget Brink introduced Wednesday that she can be working for a seat in Michigan’s seventh Congressional District.
Brink, who’s working as a Democrat, will search to exchange Lansing-area consultant Tom Barrett within the 2026 election cycle.
“Unfortunately, President Trump keeps pressuring our democratic ally, Ukraine, rather than the aggressor, Russia. Appeasing a dictator never has, and never will, achieve a lasting peace, and it’s just not who we are. Because of this, after nearly thirty years of service, I felt it was my duty to step down,” Brink mentioned in her marketing campaign announcement video. “We must stand strong against aggressors, protect democracy, fight for freedom, at home and abroad, and be on the right side of history.”
Brink says the explanation she is working for Congress is to “fight for what’s right, here at home, to stand up to unaccountable, unelected billionaires.”

Brink served as Ambassador to Slovakia beneath President Trump and as Ambassador to Ukraine beneath former President Joe Biden.
