TV presenter Katie Piper has revealed her determination to get a synthetic eye, 16 years after an acid assault that left her with life-changing accidents and partial blindness.
The Free Girls panellist, 41, is an advocate for these with burns and disfigurement accidents.
She shared a video of her being fitted with the prosthetic on Instagram.
Piper stated: “After many years battling with my eye health, I’ve reached the end of the road somewhat, and the decision has been made to try a prosthetic eye shell.
“This marks the beginning of a journey to have a synthetic eye, with an unimaginable medical workforce behind me.
“As always I’m incredibly grateful to all those in the NHS and private health care system for their talent and kindness.
“I’ll share my journey, I am hopeful and nervous about with the ability to tolerate it and would love to listen to from any of you within the feedback if you happen to’ve been on this journey or have any recommendation.”
Commenting on the submit, presenter Lisa Snowdon stated Piper was a “warrior” and a “true inspiration”.
Piper has undergone lots of of operations after struggling an acid assault organized by her ex-boyfriend in March 2008.
