Donald Trump has mentioned the US is having direct talks with Iran over its nuclear programme – making a shock announcement after Iranian officers appeared to rebuff US requires negotiations.
The president has insisted Tehran can’t get nuclear weapons.
Iran had pushed again towards Trump’s demand that it enter negotiations over its nuclear program or be bombed, however talking on the White Home immediately, Mr Trump mentioned: “We’re having direct talks with Iran, and they’ve started.
“It will go on Saturday,” he continued. “We’ve got a really massive assembly, and we’ll see what can occur. And I believe everyone agrees that doing a deal can be preferable.”
When pressed for more details on the talks, the US president said they are taking place “at virtually the best degree”. He wouldn’t be drawn on the place the assembly is going down.
“Hopefully those talks will be successful, it would be in Iran’s best interests if they are successful,” he mentioned. “We hope that’s going to happen.”
Mr Trump made the feedback to reporters throughout an Oval Workplace assembly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
